The Real reason why Jo Koy wants to bring Mary Grace café to the US (the best ensaymada in the philippines )

Heavenly. that is how I will describe the taste of Mary Grace café's famous ensaymada and Cheese rolls. No wonder (Kuya) Jo Koy wants to bring Mary Grace to the U.S. last week as I was browsing the net thinking about my possible future content. I came across this article saying that #jokoy wants to bring Mary Grace Café to the U.S. made me think... Is it really that good? that sparked my curiosity. so I went to Mary Grace Café in SM Grand Central to see it for myself. 

I like the ambiance here. it's cozy and relaxing. the setting is very Filipino and arty. I was mesmerized by their ceiling. it has a lot of doves with wings moving up and down. seemingly flying in the sky. there are also a lot of beautiful lights up there. together, making the whole ceiling, the center of attraction. the flooring also has a nice floral pattern behind the red tiles. the tables and chairs have a combination of hardwood and steel. under the table's glass, are lovely messages from their customer telling how they liked the food and service. the pillars are covered with orange bricks. while the entire wall is made of glass with hand-painted artwork. Honestly, I don't like to be surrounded by see-thru glasses. it has no privacy at all. people can see you while you are eating.

The price - Prices in this café are more on the expensive side. with the price ranging from ₱54 (lemon bar) up to ₱598 (Pizza). Imagine a small bottle of water will cost you ₱50. Crazy right? 
The Service - The service is delightful. they didn't even make me feel conscious of my appearance (I was wearing simple clothes). the waiter smiled at me, greeted me with a good afternoon, guided me to the table and he gave me water to drink. (the water tasted like dish soap to me) to be honest.

The Food - the presentation of the food was simple and honest to goodness. there's no unnecessary garnish or decoration. just your food. I love the aroma of the bread. buttery-sweet goodness. it smells so good that I almost lose control and take a bite of it without having to take a picture of it first. the serving size is enough to satisfy 

let's talk about their famous Ensaymada (the one that Jo Koy fall in love with).  right off the bat, you'll see a good amount of toasted grated cheese sitting on top of a caramelized heavenly mixture of premium butter and white sugar. the aroma was really mouth-watering. the ensaymada was pillow-soft. the first bite was heavenly. I love the little crunch coming from the toppings.  the bread has a subtle savory-sweet and milky taste to it. Hey, brother Jo Koy, you are right! "Pandayo" talaga ang sarap nito. how I wish it has fillings in it, nevertheless it's a 10/10 for me. it's best paired with a cup of hot Choco or a cup of coffee.

Now, Let's talk about their Cheese rolls. it's almost the same with the ensaymada. but the shape is elongated. the good news is it has 5-inch thick Edam cheese (Firm) 

Peach Iced tea

before I forgot I also ordered a glass of Peach Iced tea to complement the bread. it's truly refreshing! I haven't tasted a real fresh peach fruit before. that's why I ordered Peach Iced tea. I asked the lady server if it was actually a fresh fruit. Unfortunately, she said it's in-can. I was so disappointed I thought I was going to drink fresh peach. moving on, it has also a thin froth-like on top with chunks of canned yellow peach. for its price, it's not worth it for me. 

Overall, I was really happy that I discovered Mary Grace Café and its Ensaymada

thanks, Kuya Jo Koy if not for you, I couldn't taste this piece of heaven on earth.  I was deeply happy with the food, Service, and ambiance. I recommend that you eat here and try the same food that I and Kuya Jo Koy tried.
