Good day foodies! Yesterday, I visited HawkerChan over at SM Grand Central, Caloocan to try their famous Michelin-starred dish no other than SOYA SAUCE CHICKEN. Did you know that HAWKERCHAN has been Awarded as the world's first Michelin-starred restaurant for its Soya Sauce Chicken? and in fact, their Soya sauce chicken is considered the World's Cheapest Michelin star and that's what I tried yesterday. the food price is from ₱168 up to 343 pesos only.

As you enter the place you will be guided by their waiter towards your table and if you wander your eyes around you'll see that the interior design of the place is Scandinavian and the ambiance is really good, the air conditioning is cold. I think this restaurant caters to people who like to eat delicious and authentic food at affordable prices. their menu offers noodles, chicken, duck, and beef dishes.to tell you guys they are appetizing and flavorsome their staffs are professional and attentive you'll even have your own personal waiter standing near your table I really love their service.
Soya Sauce Chicken
Special Sauces
The food arrived almost immediately it was served hot. the dish consists of chicken, soybeans, rice with sauce on top, and prawn crackers. I tried first the white prawn crackers. It is crunchy and it has a subtle fishy-taste to it the texture is similar to krupuk udang or kropeck in Tagalog.
the second one I tried was the soybean side dish it is a little firm but a little soft on the inside. the taste of it is sweet and savory the next thing I tried was the rice with sauce on top. the white rice is soft and fragrant.
the sauce is thin dark brown color, and the taste is sweet, a little bit salty, and savory it is really delicious
now let's talk about the chicken. the serving is big it is chicken quarters chopped into slices. you'll notice first the skin of the chicken wow! it looks so mouth-watering it seems to me that it is glazed by its dark brown sauce. when you bite into it you'll know that it was cooked by a good chef. it is moist, tender but well-cooked and it is flavorful. very delicious! no wonder it was awarded a Michelin star. literally Napapikit ako sa sarap.
by the way, I highly suggest that you dipped the chicken in their special vinegar the one on the left is spiced vinegar with green chili. it is tangy, spicy, and a little sweet. on the right side is spicy-sour vinegar but it reminds me of atchara or pickled green papaya. but spicier when you dipped it in the sauce everything changed. the tangy-spicy vinegar compliments the sweet and savory taste of the chicken.
In conclusion, to me, my experience in HawkerChan is like a marriage of affordability and deliciousness with unmatched quality and hospitality. I highly recommend that you visit and dine here at HawkerChan.
