susandhya! did you notice my greeting today? it means good evening in Hindi (India) Yes my friend, you read it right! we are going Indian today! me and my nephew Cyrus decided to eat at this restaurant that I am telling him about for days. now is the time for us to dig-in in some spicy food. 'cause we like to eat spicy food. today, August 4, we went to Lal's New Delhi restaurant located at Bonifacio St. Caloocacan City to try some of their delectable Indian food. Lal's New Delhi serves Indian, Pakistani, and Sri Lankan Halal-Certified food.
Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted by the sharp smell of curry. we sat at the table and while we are waiting for our order, we watched Indian content playing on their big monitor. in terms of the vibe of the restaurant I can say it's kind of Classy and semi-minimalist. there are a lot of paintings and some decors. their wall is covered by an Indian pattern, and there's also a huge ceiling fan with ambient light which I like the most. by the way, the restaurant is fully airconditioned. they also have a wifi connection. you just have to ask for the password.
eventually, the food came one by one. first comes the fried...
papad masala with two flavors one classic, and one spicy. it's like BIG nachos covered with carrots, onion, green chili, and paprika I like the combination of flavors that is delicious and also crunchy! it is good as an appetizer I'll order it again soon. (it's a 10/10 for me)
after we ate papad masala it was followed by 2-pieces of...
al ootikki in two sauces: tamarind and a spicy-tangy sauce the ootikki is three inches in length and one inch in height and it's heavy! it has fillings that are flaky and dry meat with peas carrots turmeric and lal mirch powder. it's perfectly fried. crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside the taste of ootiki is a little hot and spicy but mild. I definitely suggest that you order this one. now comes the...
Chicken Biryani - the manager give us a tip that biryani is best eaten with your bare hand. by the way, the biryani comes with biryani gravy. the sauces remind me of chicken curry but spicier I like it it's delicious to the bone. there are two ways to eat it with sauce. it's either you dip the chicken in its sauce or put the sauce over the chicken. and eat it with your bare hands (wash your hands first)
The Rice in biryani - the rice is long-grain and it's firm I taste turmeric, coriander, and some spices that are new to me the rice is also moist with its sauce
it is my second time coming here it's not as good as it is today because the restaurant has a new owner new chef and staff
the chicken in biryani - it's wow! so tender that it fell off its bone. so soft and delicious! their biryani is better than I had before in fact we loved it! The HACK! dip your chicken in the tamarind sauce of the al ootikki it's way better than its own sauce it's phenomenal! the sweet-tangy sauce compliments the spicy and rich biryani we also ordered it's a match made in heaven
mango lassi - to me I will describe it as a mango shake with light yogurt. man, it's sooo good I finished it in 10 seconds! wow! I didn't expect it to be this good. the best drink to end your Indian food because it relieves the spiciness of the food.
the freebie! they give PWD Discount, they gave us the Papad Masala for free and lessen our bill by P30 pesos! ganyan yata talaga sila... mapagbigay.
the conclusion
- the food is affordable! ranging from P60 to P400 pesos
- the staff is very welcoming and friendly
- the food is very delicious
I will definitely come here to try other food on their menu.
